Barb M. (nee Helldoerfer) Dolosic, 57, of Troy, IL was born February 3, 1964 in Highland, IL. She passed away April 14, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family after living with sarcoma for nearly three years.
Barb met her soulmate in 1983, when she was working at Waffle House to support herself through college. She and Bill were married at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church on August 16, 1985. After marrying, Barb and Bill moved with the Air Force, first to Mississippi and then to Oklahoma before returning to Troy and raising their daughters. Barb was happy to support her daughters, serving as their Girl Scout “Cookie Mom” and leader as well as proud band, color guard, and dance mom.
When their daughters were in college, Barb and Bill moved to Sindelfingen (Stuttgart) Germany, where Barb volunteered with the USO at the US Army Garrison at Panzer Kaserne (USAG Stuttgart) as a tour guide, earning herself the nickname “Tour Guide Barbie.” Here, Barb lived out her two passions – planning and travel. With her skills, she led over 40 tours and visited 26 countries in 20 months! Her favorite places to travel included the Tulip Fields at Keukenhof (Holland), the Ludwigsburg Christmas Market (Germany), the Alpine Cattle Drive in Mayrhofen (Austria), and the Temple of Heaven (China). Of all things, beaches were a favorite, and while Aruba’s beaches were at the top of her list, she also loved visiting the Black River in Lesterville (Missouri). In recent years, Barb continued her love for volunteering, donating goods and time to causes she cared about, working with the Ministries Unlimited Food Pantry and other local charities.
Barb was proud to be the first person in her family to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. She graduated with honors in 1985 and went on to pursue her CPA certification, which she obtained in 1992. With a passion for education, she returned to SIUE, graduating with her MBA in 2002. She had a long, successful career in accounting and auditing, recently taking early retirement from AT&T, where she had worked for more than fifteen years. She loved her work but more than anything she loved the people she worked with. Barb was also elated to see her two daughters complete their Doctorates and her bonus daughter earn her Master’s.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius and Marie (nee Emig) Helldoerfer; brother, Larry Helldoerfer; sister-in-law, Janet (nee Mersinger) Helldoerfer; and brother-in-law, Alvin Taylor.
Surviving are her husband, William R. “Bill” Dolosic Jr. of Troy, IL; daughters, Danielle M. (Steven) Loftus and Haley N. Dolosic, both of Troy, IL; bonus daughter, Kayla (Edwin) Tipsword of Vandalia, IL; sisters, Marilyn Taylor and Mary (Michael) Neal of Troy, IL; brother, Gerard (Paula) Helldoerfer of Troy, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.
