Dr. B. Martin Middleton, age 90, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.
Dr. Middleton is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Audrey, four childrena”Jeffrey (Laura, nee Lane), Carol DelRicci (Tom), Neil, and Dan (Lori, nee Fowler), his sister, Mary Ruth, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Dr. Middleton was born February 28, 1927 and raised on a farm in Southern Maryland as the youngest of ten siblings. He spent his career as a surgeon at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. He served as Chief of Surgery and was most proud of the young surgeons he trained and mentored. Dr. Middleton valued his family and friends greatly, and looked forward to his yearly hunting trips in Maryland, Wyoming, and South Dakota with his dear friends and brothers. Dr. Middleton most enjoyed working outside in his yard and being with those he loved.
Dr. Middleton enlisted in the United States Army on May 2, 1944 and served as a P-51 aircraft engine specialist in the Pacific Theatre. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and received an honorable discharge in November 1946, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
We know that he is not gone, but that he is now surrounded by those who left before him, including his mother, eight brothers and sisters, and his beloved son Andrew.
