B. Jean Shaffer, 93, of Salem, died at 4:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Courtyard At Lexington. She was born August 31, 1922 in Marysville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Floyd and Clela B. (Tracy) Christopher.
Jean graduated from Apple Creek High School. She was a member of the Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church. An avid Golfer,and Bridge player, she was a member of the Salem Golf Club for 56 years. She also was a member of the Salem Garden Club, and the Ruth Smucker House. She enjoyed gardening, and entertaining, theater dancing, and the Ohio Light Opera. Jean was a good friend to many people.
Her husband of 62 years, Clarence G. “Bud” Shaffer, preceded her in death April 9, 2008.
Survivors include a son; Larry L. (Kathy) Shaffer of Salem; a daughter; Rhonda Shaffer of Perinton, New York; one brother; one sister-in-law Shirley Beckler, two grandsons; Scott (Darla) Shaffer and Michael (Tara) Shaffer, 5 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great granddaughters.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Gregory A. Shaffer; one grandson, Daniel A. Shaffe; two brothers, Robert and Dale Beckler; one sister, Betty Cincinat.
