Azure M. Rowe, the daughter of George and Edith (Russell) Rowe, was born August 16, 1905 in Early, Iowa. She was a graduate of Early High School; following graduation she helped her brother farm the family farm.
In 1935, Azure moved to Waterloo, Iowa where she worked in the John Deere plant during WWII and made airplane parts to help the war effort. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1945, where she was co-owner/operator of the Hutchison Nursing Home. In 1967, Azure retired and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she was employed by the Deerk Valley School District to work in the school lunch program. Since moving to Newton, Iowa in 1985 she has made her home in McCann Village.
On Saturday, June 10, 2000, Azure died in Newton at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clairmont, “Bud”, Kenneth, and J.V. Rowe; and two sisters, Audry Teague and Marjorie Rowe. Those left to honor her memory are her many nieces and nephews.
