Azreal Soobitsky, 95, husband of the late Myrtle (Brenner) Soobitsky of Sanibel, FL and Middletown, died Thursday September 27, at Shell Point Nursing Home, Fort Myers, FL. He was born in Siberia, Russia, May 16, 1912, son of the late Solomon and Rebecca Soobitsky.

Mr. Soobitsky arrived from Russia in 1915 and grew up in Durham, graduating from the Durham High School. He and his wife Myrtle were married in 1935, a marriage that lasted for 70 years, until her death in 2005, and they made their home in Middletown. They were members of the Congregation Adath Israel Synagogue.

He was a member of St. John’s Lodge #2 AF & AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He leaves one son, Dr. Joel Soobitsky and his wife Cassandra (McClain) Soobitsky of Sanibel, FL; four brothers, Mosey Soobitsky of Middletown, Leon Soobitsky of Meriden, Michael Soobitsky of Bradenton, FL and Hoyel Soobitsky of California; 2 sisters, Aster Kokoszka of Higganum and Hadora Dwyer of Cheshire; one grandson, Jayson Soobitsky of Maryland, a granddaughter-in-law , Amy Ackerman of Maryland and 3 great grandchildren, Chelsea, Rachel and Brandon.

He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Ted Soobitsky, David Soobitsky and Eshuwa Soobitsky and one sister, Rachel Stern.
