Avonel Garvin 94, died Monday June 17, 2013 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.  She was born on May
25, 1919 to Roy and Elva (Lowry) Peterson in Colfax, Iowa.  Avonel grew up in Colfax and graduated with
the Colfax xlass of 1939.

On May 9, 1940 Avonel was united in marriage with Robert Garvin in Lancaster, Missour.  Robert and
Avonel raised five children, Pamela, Patti, Jon Roy (Butch), Kevin and Sheryl.  She devoted her life to her
husband and children.

Avonel worked for 25 years for Jasper County Home Health, first as an aide and later in the office.

Avonel enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and was active in Pocahontas, TOPS, O & E, as well as working with children through Campfire, Blue Birds and Cub Scouts.  Avonel loved to tell the story about riding in a covered wagon in the very first Jasper County Fair.  She rode again for the last time in that parade five years ago.

She leave to cherish her memory her children, Pamela Robson of Newton, Patti Garvin Ham (Tim) of Fort Collins, CO, Kevin Garvin and Sheryl  Garvin Sutton also of Newton; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a brother  and 2 sisters, many nieces, nephews and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her son Jon Roy (Butch) and granddaughter Michele Christine Robson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Zachary Alexander for his  wonderful care of their mother.
