Avis B. Capraro, 83, of Canon City, Colorado died October 5, 2012. She was born June 28, 1929 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado to Claude and Alice Smith McCoy. Avis had recently moved back to Canon City after residing in Hugo, Colorado for several years. Avis was known by many to be an entrepreneur. She enjoyed gardening, collecting things, and helping those in need. Avis will be remembered for her friendly personality, her generous heart, and her love of God. Avis is survived by children: Janice (Robert) Halstead, John (Sandi) Capraro, Jim (Gidget) Capraro; grandchildren: Stacey (Mark) Huff, Rachel Merkel, Callie Capraro, Jace Capraro, Travis Capraro, Trent Capraro; great grandchildren: Hunter and Cayleb Huff; brother: Marion McCoy. Avis was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William D. “Bill’ Capraro; son Claude Capraro; daughter Patricia Capraro; and brother, Donald McCoy.
