Avis Amanda Smith
 October 17, 1921  –  February 15, 2014

   Avis Amanda Hazlewood Smith, of Heber Springs, was born October 17, 1921, in Cleburne County, and passed away on February 15, 2014, at Southridge Village Retirement Center. She was 92 years old.  Avis was the daughter of J.D. and Ella Hipp Hazlewood.

  

   Avis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of seventy years, Barnum Smith; and two brothers, Emmit Hazlewood and Owen Hazlewood.

   Avis is survived by three sons: Roger G. Smith (Tommie Sue) and David B. Smith (and the late Kay Smith) of Heber Springs, Arkansas, and Douglas B. Smith (Margaret) of Conway, Arkansas; one daughter, Carolyn A. Whitehurst (Donald) of Pine Snag, Arkansas; six granddaughters, Suzanne Harris, Melanie Whitehurst, Amanda Stephens, Karey Livingston, Stacy Moore, and Heather Porter; one step-grandchild, Chad Belcher; nine great-grandchildren, Zackery Harris, Maci Stephens, Jacob Tapley, Caleb Tapley, Camie Moore, Kinley Moore, Easton Moore, Eden Porter, and Eli Porter; 2 step-grandchildren, Patrick Stephens and Blake Belcher; and two sisters, Alice Moody and Fran Falconer.

   Avis was a mother and a homemaker.  She attended Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church.  Avis loved her grandchildren and her church.
