Avis A. Chapman, passed away on Sunday morning, March 27, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born on January 16, 1926 in Kalamazoo. In 1943, she was married to Louis DeLobel, who passed away in 1963. In 1964, she was married to William Chapman, who passed away in 2012. Avis worked for Portage Public Schools as a school bus driver, Michigan Bell, and Schneider Greenhouse. She was very active and enjoyed quilting, reading, gardening, and was a member of the Kalamazoo Rose Society.
Surviving are three children, Judy (Al) VanderVeen of Parchment, Steven (Sue) DeLobel of Scotts and Wynn (Peggy) DeLobel of St. Petersburg, FL; three step-children, Dr. Larry Thompson of Traverse City, William Jr. (Carol) Chapman of Hickory Corners and Barry (Candy) Chapman of Kalamazoo; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were her son, Louis DeLobel in 2015; father, Duane Kinney; mother, Laura (Saunders) Kinney-Osewald; and sister, Betty Travis.
