On March 16, 2016 Austin D. Hanna passed away. Devoted husband of Ellen Hanna (nee Lambert). Beloved father of Mary Morris and the late James A. Hanna. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Austin was born in Tioga, West Virginia and at the encouragement of his dad, left home after school to see the world by joining the Army at Fort Hayes Ohio on June 12th, 1942. He Served in the Pacific campaign of WWII with the 177th infantry, 43rd Division as a rifleman. He was in the Battle of New Guinea and Soul Philippines liberation and received the following decorations and citations;

After discharge on November 28th, 1945 at Cap Atterbury Indiana, Austin found his way to Baltimore where he settled down and married the late Ellen (Lambert) and adopted 2 children, Mary Ellen and the late James Austin.

In the early years he ran the Hanna Family Grocery Store in Highlandtown and Baltimore County. He always smiled and was positive and was dedicated to his family at all times.

In 2009 he moved from his home in Essex to the Franklin Woods Center where he made many new friends, including his companion, the late Sara Cross.
