AURORA “DORA” R. MISQUEZ, 77, former Grant County resident who had lived in Deming for the last 20 years passed away early Tuesday September 22, 2009 at her home.
Dora was born January 17, 1932 in Gallup, to Maria Lucero and Anselmo S. Roman. She married Domingo R. Misquez on September 5, 1951 in Hanover. Dora was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and in recent years lived a Cursillo. Mom loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to ride horses, the outdoors, casinos and her chickens and peacocks. Dora was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Elvis Presley fan. She followed all her children and grand-children to every sport and activity. She made every attempt to attend all special occasions. She also loved to sit out in the front porch with her husband and watch the humming birds, quails and doves. Dora was well known for her tamales, bread pudding, strawberry shortcake and homemade tortillas. She was the family’s strength, gave lots of advice and never turned her back on anyone. She was a very loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Domingo of the home; 3 sons, Edward R. Misquez and wife, Jackie of Elko, Nevada, David R. Misquez and wife Yvonne of Farmington, Daniel R. Misquez and wife Sylvia of Silver City; daughter, Carmen Misquez-Gutierrez and fiancé, David Gallardo of Bayard; 15 grandchildren, Bernadette Sublasky (Joe), Edward R. Misquez Jr. (Mandy), Domingo A. Misquez (Delaina), Samantha Jo Misquez, Naomi Misquez Salazar, Jessica Vargas (Dominic), Shannon Misquez, Melissa Grando (Frankie), Leann Misquez, Adrianna Misquez, Bobbie Jo Gonzalez (Lalo), Victor M. Gutierrez Jr. (Martha), Aaron E. Gutierrez, David C. Gutierrez (Christina), Michael H. Gutierrez; 28 great-grandchildren and expecting 2 new arrivals; 5 sisters, Elvira Delgadillo, Annie Marquez, Molly Cordero all of California, Lupe Mendoza (Bobby) of Silver City and Beatrice Aguilar (Robert) of Deming; 7 God-children, Pearl Jean Ceja, Patricia Meneses, Paul Valencia, Michael Valencia, Sara Montoya, Christina Cordero and Analee Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anselmo & Maria Roman, brother, Joe Roman, grandson, Daniel Misquez Jr.; godson, Daniel Alderete and special aunt, Tia Tacha.
Pallbearers will be Edward Misquez Jr., Domingo A. Misquez, Victor M. Gutierrez, Aaron E. Gutierrez, David C. Gutierrez, Michael H. Gutierrez, Michael Valencia and Paul Valencia. Honorary bears will be all her grandchildren and god-children.
