“Grandmother”, “Grandmother Griffin” and “Great Gran”. . . warmly expressed by generations that followed.

We all love her and miss her dearly.  Our peace is in knowing that she loved the Lord throughout her 96 years; and is now resting in the arms of our Saviour.

Mrs. Augustine Carter Griffin was the third child of six children born to Terry and Ollie Carter on May 7, 1922 in Mansfield, La.  They were a big and jolly family!

 

 

She came to La Jolla, CA. in 1945 where her daddy was employed by Casa de Manana Hotel. 

She later married and was a faithful companion to the late Paul Griffin, Jr. for 31 yrs.  To this union 4 children were born. 

 

After moving to CA.

Augustine is preceded in death by her mother and father, Terry & Ollie Cooper Carter; her sisters Erma Steger and Birder Maxie; and her brothers Jefferson and Johnny Carter.

She is survived by four sons; Calvin, James (Stella), Gary and Gil Griffin (Lerma); one daughter, Olga Perkins (Broderick); 11 grandchildren: La Shon, Noah, Nicole, Nathan, Naaman and Delenn Griffin; Denise Brown (Charles); Candace Hunter; Janita Coleman (Ernesto); Desiree Williams (Paul); Phoebe Smith (Jarvis); 13 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; one sister: Emma Vaughn (Inglewood, CA); one brother in law: Maron Steger (Inglewood, CA); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.                                       

 

                                                The pains of death are past

                                                  Labor and sorrow cease

                                        And life’s long warfare closed at last,

                                                Her soul is found in peace!
