Augusta Elizabeth Millard “Sis” was born on February 6, 1934 in Washington, DC to the late Robert and Alise Millard of Emory Grove, MD.
Augusta, “Sis” received her education from the Montgomery County school system. She met and fell in love with Rufus Dent and started a beautiful family having four children: Nedra, Donica, Bonnie and Byron (Muka).
She was a devoted wife and mother. Sis started her career as an Executive Secretary working for the Federal Government. In 1988, she moved to Las Vegas continuing to work with the Federal Government and retired after 30 plus years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved the Lord and her family unconditionally. Sis never turned her back on any family or friend in need. She had a big heart and loving soul. She even raised her 3 beautiful granddaughters after having raised her own children. She never complained but only showed love and compassion by doing the best she knew how. Sis made sure she had enough love and time to watch and spoil her great grand kids and great-great grandkids.
Sis was a member of Emory Grove United Methodist Church throughout her life serving faithfully as a member of the Methodist Women’s Group till her health failed. Sis spent her last years residing in Hope Mills, NC with her granddaughter Jackie and family, until she was called home August 5, 2017.
Left to cherish her memories are granddaughters, Jackie Lewis (Reginald) (NC), April Dent (MD), Danyell Williams (Omar) (NC), Leonda Martin (MD) and Tanaysia Martin (NC); nephew, Christopher Millard (Heather) (CA); goddaughter, Donna Moody-Johnson (MD); stepsons, Howard and Ronnie Dent; stepdaughter Roberta Littlejohn; son-in-law, Daniel McRoy (NC); great grandchildren, Derrick, Marcus, Vanessa, Donald, Breonna, Terrance, Terry, Ashley, Lyniah, Omar, Javier and Emiliano; eleven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Rufus Dent; daughters, Nedra Dent, Donica Dent, Bonnie Martin; son, Byron (Muka) Dent; brother, Donald Millard; parents, Robert and Alise Millard and a sister, Ercy Millard.
