WASHINGTON… August T. “Doff” Rosenberg, 92, of Washington, passed away at 6:55 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2015 at his home.
Doff was born on August 28, 1922 in Buckley, Illinois to John and Anna (Knuth) Rosenberg. He married Beulah Belcher in Varna on March 27, 1948. Beulah passed away on January 9, 1998 in Washington.
Among those surviving are two sons, James (Mark Barrett) Rosenberg of Arlington, Virginia and William (Jennifer) Rosenberg of Ft. Worth; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Rosenberg of Alaska; a sister-in-law, Margaret Rosenberg of Washington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Edith Lange of Washington; six grandchildren, Chuck, Connie, Natalie, Matt, Alex and Jordan and numerous loving great and great great grandchildren.
Doff was also preceded in death by a son, Victor, two infant children, five brothers and a sister.
He was a proud World War II veteran, having served in the U. S. Army. Dof fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a part of General Patton’s 3rd Army. He was a POW in Stalig IX in Bad Orbe, Germany prior to the end of the War and was awarded the Bronze Star. Doff was a member of Danforth-Walker VFW Post 9016 in Washington.
Doff was a carpenter by trade, but had also worked for the Illinois Secretary of State’s office as an investigator, also worked for the ATF and later retired as Washington Township Supervisor.
He was a longtime member of St.
