Audrie Belle Fuller Bonnette, 93, beloved mother and grandmother, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Scott and White. Audrie was born at home in Hosston, LA on December 1, 1920 to Patrick and Gertie Mae (McKinney) Fuller. She graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta, and attended graduate school at UCLA.
She married Samuel Clyde Bonnette in Los Angeles in 1942 before Sam deployed to the Pacific Theater of WWII. After the war, Sam finished his degree at Texas A&M and the couple moved to Houston where Sam was a banker and Audrie taught elementary school for many years. They adopted two children, Andrew Clyde Bonnette and Caren Audrie Bonnette (Hamilton) from the Edna Gladney Home in Fort Worth, and were blessed by the birth of Tod Fuller Bonnette in 1960.
Sam retired from Fannin Bank in 1974, and Audrie and Sam moved to Hosston, Louisiana, where they remodeled Audrie’s birthplace and were active at Hosston Methodist Church. Audrie’s greatest joy was being surrounded by her family and friends. During her lifetime she also enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlework, tending their weekend farm in Evergreen, TX, and Texas Aggie football games. She moved to Temple in 2002 to be near her daughter, Caren, and her family. In Temple she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Republic.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and her sons, Tod and Andy Bonnette. Survivors include Dr. Bill and Caren (Bonnette) Hamilton; Kristin Hamilton of Austin; Dr. John Hamilton of Oklahoma City; Sam Hamilton of San Antonio, and Lisa Hamilton of College Station. She is also survived by her sister, Pattie Mae Hudson Smith of Tyler, TX; niece Paula and Dr. Joe Bates of Tyler; and nephew James Patrick Hudson of Katy; and their families.
