Audrey Joan Mitchell of Wetmore, Colorado went to live with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2022, surrounded by her family. Audrey was born on July 14, 1954, to Jim and Nancy Fitzsimmons in Caledonia, Michigan.
She and her family lived in small towns throughout the west and south, finally settling in Colorado. Audrey grew up learning how to ride horses, and this is how her passion for animals grew. Her fondest childhood memories were riding with her sister at the livestock auction that her parents owned in Las Vegas, New Mexico. After moving to Colorado, she and her parents opened a feed store where she focused on the nutrition of cattle, horses, and alpacas. She was very close-knit with her parents throughout her life. Audrey grew into a beautiful woman, with a radiant smile that always included red lipstick, that will be remembered and greatly missed.
The happiest years of Audrey’s life began when she married Dan Mitchell in May of 2000. The two of them shared 22 beautiful years together, up until her passing. Audrey’s greatest love was her family and she and Dan were always actively involved with their children and grandchildren. It was always her goal to make every family event or birthday special for the occasion being celebrated.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy; her husband, Dan; her children, James, Broc, and Lucas; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Broc Jr., Chance, and Hank; her great-granddaughter, Evelyn; her sisters, Brenda (Billy), Colleen (Mike), and Dawn (Doug); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Audrey is preceded in death by her father, Jim.
