Audrey Ann Beck passed away peacefully on December 22nd, 2020 at Wyndham West in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In her final hours, she enjoyed an outpouring of love while surrounded by the company of her immediate family.

Audrey was born Audrey Ann Meisterling in Hartford, Connecticut on February 10th, 1929. She attended the University of Connecticut and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. While earning her degree, she was initiated and served as a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a proud member for not just four years, but for life. It was at college where she met her adoring husband of sixty-seven years, Michael George Beck. It was a love at first sight moment and they were married on June 14th, 1952. The two were inseparable and had a marriage one could only aspire to have as they were very much in love their entire life together. They were truly each other’s biggest supporters, confidants, sources of laughter, and ultimately best friends. Michael passed away earlier this year on January 19th, 2020. Our family is at peace knowing that they have been reunited in heaven.

Audrey lived a full and adventurous life. She enjoyed traveling the world with Mike and their international travels yielded unforgettable experiences that are reflected in the many mementoes throughout their home. She also enjoyed numerous family trips/vacations to Connecticut, Colorado, and Florida. She was also an animal lover through and through. It was no secret in their neighborhood that at the Beck residence, treats were widely available to any pup that wanted to stop by all thanks to Audrey. Her refrigerator at home was covered with not only pictures of grandchildren, but also of every pet that was part of our family. She could spend hours watching deer and birds in her backyard and could tell you every species. All animals held a special place in her heart, except for those pesky squirrels trying to climb her feeders.

Audrey and Mike were active members of their community. They were proud, 50+ year members of the Kalamazoo Country Club. While golfing one afternoon, she made the first hole-in-one ever out of the entire Beck family. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, a generous supporter of the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, and served as a member of its Ambassadors Council. Audrey cherished being part of the Kalamazoo community.

Nothing in this world brought more joy to Audrey than family. She has two sons Robert (Alice) of Portage, Michigan and Don (Suzy) of Castle Rock, Colorado and six beautiful grandchildren – Lindsay (Taylor Myers), Danny, Ryan, Mathew, Rachel, and Brandon. She was always seen with a big smile on her face when spending time with her children and grandchildren and was actively involved with all aspects of their lives. You could always count on her for a big congratulation or words of advice and comfort when you needed it. If there was a sporting event or a school play, you could count on Michael and Audrey to be cheering in the stands or audience, rain or shine. Even down to weekly family dinners or birthday parties, they never missed an event. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her own mother until she passed away at age 91.

Recently, she became a great-grandmother with the birth of Mason James Myers on July 1st, 2020. She received photos of Mason practically every week and it was a highlight in her final days. She loved nothing more than to show off her grandchildren and would brag about their accomplishments to anyone interested. She couldn’t have been more proud of her family.

Audrey lived a full life and was very aware how deeply she was loved by family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
