Aubrey Earl Shaddix, Jr.; affectionately known to all as “Sonny” entered into the presence of the Lord on November 5, 2007. Sonny was a native of Coweta County and was born here on July 12, 1933, to the late Aubrey Earl Shaddix, Sr. and Mattie Mae Burks Shaddix. He graduated from Grantville High School and attended DeKalb Community College. For four years he gave distinguished service to this country through his service in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Sonny spent his entire professional career in law enforcement and security services. He served as a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol for 25 years and, following his retirement there; he was employed by Georgia Power for four years in their security division. During the last 14 years, he was a federal marshal at the Lewis R. Morgan Federal Building and United States Court House in Newnan. A person of quiet, but deep faith, Sonny was dedicated to the ministries of Northside Baptist Church where he was a charter member and had served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and was a part of the pastor search committee. He had recently been awarded a 50-year service pin for his commitment to Bigham Lodge in Moreland.
His wife, Margaret Smith Shaddix; his children, DeeAnna Robertson, Todd Shaddix, and his wife Kelly, Randy Garrett, and Jana Miles and her husband William survive Sonny. His grandchildren are Serena Robertson, Kayley Robertson, Kaitlyn Robertson, Tyler Yeager, Kamron Bunn, Kyle Long, Will Miles and Ally Miles.
