He was born on September 17, 1923 in Sharpsburg, MD to the late George Washington Churchey and Fannie Frances Elizabeth Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Mae Henson Churchey in 1992.
Atlee was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as a Custodian until his retirement in 1988.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was of the Protestant Faith.
Atlee is survived by his son Warren A. Churchey and his wife Corrine of Falling Waters, WV; granddaughter Cierra Churchey; grandson Joshua Dunkin; grandson Nathan Churchey; 4 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Dennis R. Churchey; foster daughter Brenda Mellott; sisters Thelma Strite, Josephine Jackson, Ruth Lohman, Evelyn Clark, and Dorothy McCoy; brothers Clifton Churchey, Howard Churchey, Raymond Churchey, Grover Churchey, and Lloyd Churchey.
