Asia Maria (Seda) Rodriguez, age 85 died of respiratory failure at 5:08 a.m. Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Courtyard at Lexington. She was born November 15, 1932 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Julio and Felicidad (Babilonia) Seda. She was the first of nine siblings.
In 1954, Asia and her husband, Margaro Rodriguez moved to Hoboken, N.J. where she gave birth to five of her seven children. She was actively involved in civic and social services, was an avid member of PTA in the NYC school system and volunteered at her children’s school system to be near them. She also helped her husband run the family restaurant. Then in 1970, they moved to Youngstown, for a cultural change from NYC. Asia worked for the state at the former Woodside Receiving Hospital as an nurse’s aide, Brentwood Originals as a sewer, Shepherd of the Valley in the housekeeping department, and at Essex of Salem where she retired at 72 years of age.
Her husband, Margaro Rodriguez preceded her in death in 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Maria (George) Fuentes; four sons, Margaro (Nancy) Rodriguez Jr., Freddie (Beth) Rodriguez, Edward Rodriguez, and Samuel (Barbara) Rodriguez; four sisters, Vivian Soto, Iris Munoz, Olga Seda, and Sonia Lamboy; a brother, Edwin Lamboy; 26 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Two sons, Johnny Seda Rodriguez and Gilbert Rodriguez; two brothers, Jesus Seda and Gilberto Seda; and two sisters, Lucellenia Seda and Hilda Lamboy also preceded her in death.
