Ashayla Sharae̒ Spearmon, affectionately known as Shayla was born on April 12, 2001 to Don G. Skinner
and Yulanda N. Spearmon in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was proceeded in death by her Grandmother Mary E. Lee (Spearmon) and cousin Marquette R. Spearmon . Shayla was the youngest child of her siblings.
Shayla attended the Indianapolis Public School system at Arlington High School. She also attended the
Inner Beauty Program Inc. where she received achievement awards and training in such curriculum as
Undoing Racism, My Life My Choice, Martin University HSE, Employ Indy Power Huddle, Financial
Shayla loved hanging out with her friends and singing when she thought no one was listening. She had a
keen eye for fashion and was an avid shoe collector. She also loved her mother’s cooking and would
often call and ask, “Mama, what did you cook?!” Shayla departed this life on May 23, 2020 at the age of
19 years, 1 month and 11 days old. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and peers.
Shayla leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Yulanda; father, Don; stepfather, Kevin; 2 sisters,
Ashlee and Donshae̒; brother, Larry; stepbrother, Savioughn; 3 nephews, James, Laron, Savioughn Jr;
niece, Skyla; loving special friend, Deona Mays and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
