Mr. Arvin Giles, 80 years, born August 14, 1926, in Collinsville, Illinois, passed away March 19, 2007, at his residence in St. Jacob, Illinois.

Mr. Giles lived in Collinsville, Illinois moving to St. Jacob, Illinois in 1988. Arvin was a meat cutter in many small stores. He drove a bakery truck and was a custodian in the Post Office prior to becoming a clerk in the Collinsville Post Office where he eventually retired. Mr. Giles was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran in the Military Police where he was involved in the war trials. He was in Okinawa from 1943 to 1945 and also in Toba. Mr. Giles was a member of the Collinsville American Legion Post #365 and a member of the Postal Union.

Mr. Giles is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ida (nee: Block) Giles, his first wife Laverne (nee: Vieluf) Giles who passed away February 25, 1980, and his brothers Clyde and Melvin Giles.

Mr. Giles is survived by his wife Mary (nee: Chism) Giles of St. Jacob, Illinois, his son Steven (Deborah) Giles of Troy, Illinois, his daughter Mrs. Linda (Dennis) Petry of Troy, Illinois, grandchildren: Jeffrey (Geetu) Petry of Round Rock, Texas, Joel (Stacy) Petry of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Regina Petry of Seattle, Washington, Arinan, Michelle and Melissa Gilles of Troy, Illinois, four great-grandchildren Leena and Devin Petry, and Morgan and Mackenzie Petry, and a sister-in-law Ivis Bedrick of Warner Robins, Georgia.
