Born March 28, 1927 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Chester and Emma Witt.
In 1935 Arvid’s family left Nebraska and moved to Westminster, Colorado where he graduated from Union High School in 1945. Shortly after graduation Arvid enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving through the remainder of WWII as part of the United States Navy Air Crew.
In 1950 he attended Officer Candidate Training and earned his flight wings and commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Force
He was assigned to USAF Bases in Utah, Oklahoma, Illinois, Texas, Alabama, Colorado, Turkey, and Bases throughout Europe. He served during the Korean War flying from Southern Japan, Brady AFB.
Upon Retirement from the USAF, Arvid was hired by United Airlines as a Flight Simulator Instructor at Stapleton Airport. Soon he was flying 720,727 and 737 aircraft, as a United Airlines Pilot.
Besides the love of flying, Arvid was an avid hunter and fisherman, which he passed along to his sons. He was also instrumental in starting the Fort Collins Soccer Club and Fort Collins Soccer Club Arsenal programs.
Arvid is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara, sons Steve (Betty) Witt, Corbin (Katherine) Witt, Glenn (Laurie) Witt and daughter Kathi Witt.
Grandchildren: Amanda (Jason) Stone, Melanie (Jon) Witt-Wilson, Maggie (Mike) Arb, Jane Witt, Abbey Witt, Joseph Witt and great grandson, James Arb.
