Arthur (Art) James Watson was born to Thomas and Etta Watson on July 24, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio. He departed this life on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Tuscany Gardens after an extended illness.

He was educated in Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Central High School. Afterward he served in the U.S. Army. In 1995, Arthur retired from White Castle after 41 years of dedicated service.

As a teen he was influenced by friends to give his life to Jesus Christ. Art accepted the call and was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit under the pastorate of Bishop Karl F. Smith at Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith located at Pennsylvania and Collins.

He was strongly and richly rooted and grounded in the entire Word of God. Therefore, he did not have a favorite scripture but embraced all 31,102 verses. Art was a living epistle known to tell everyone and anyone he came in contact with about the love and saving power of Jesus Christ. He dedicated everything to God and served Him faithfully with his time; as an usher and member of Sunday School class #10, his talent by sharing the love of Jesus, and his treasure by giving to the house of God and others.

On August 6, 1994 Art married the love of his life Geneva Anderson. They were not only united in holy matrimony but in prayer, worship, and reading the word of God faithfully until death. They had no biological children but raised his nephew Jerry “JL” Watson as their own. During their 27 years of marriage Art and Geneva had many spiritual children and grand-children.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Etta Watson; grandmother “mama” Emma Watts; brothers, Thomas “Anthony” Watson, Alfonso “Chuck” Watson, Richard Watson and Robert Watson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Geneva; son, Jerry “JL” Watson, Columbus, OH; three sisters, Emma Robinson, Dublin, OH; Barbara Johnson, Clarksville, TN; Diana Charles, Lanham, MD; and one brother, David (Mary) Watson, Clinton, MD. Special spiritual sons, Darryl (Angela) Davis and Terence Banks. Special friends, Earl Brewer, Wanda Curtis, Ronald Jones, Brenda Mitchell, Joan and Raleigh Stepter and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and church family.
