Arthur Stephen “Steve” Newberry, 73, of Anderson, passed away on March 13, 2020 surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. He held on in order to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary with his beautiful wife, proving how much he loved her.
He was born on May 14, 1946 in Cookeville, Tennessee. Arthur graduated from Anderson University. He retired in 2003 from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors. He loved model railroading, Diet Coke, McDonalds and flea marketing. Arthur is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years, Sherron Newberry; children, Gabrielle “Gabe” (Tony) Martinez,, David (Jessica Cecil) Newberry, Stephen (Susan) Newberry; grandchildren, Erin Jesse, Marquise Peak, Mekiha Peak, Zeke Peak, Eilan Peak, Jenna Fritz, Tyler Newberry, Datreon Cole, Zayra Martinez, Jazmyn Martinez, Antonio Martinez, Jr, Isaiah Martinez, Jiraiyah Martinez, Skiler Reed, Ethan Taakpken; great-grandkids, Kori Jesse, Katherine Peridore and one on the way; brother, Larry Newberry, nieces, Megan and Rachel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bedford and Roselle Newberry and daughter, Cynthia “Cyndie” Peak.
