Arthur R. “Artie Ray” McDannold, 67, of Jacksonville and formerly of Meredosia, died Friday, August 10, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Jan. 22, 1945, in Scott County, the son of Melvin Eugene and Doris Mardel Russwinkle McDannold. He married Patricia Ann Nave on Nov. 14, 1964, in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Cathy Elaine (Micheal) Chaplin; two granddaughters, Erica Dawn and RaeAnn Marie Chaplin, all of Florida; sister, Marilyn June Kemper of Jacksonville; niece, Jodie Marie Baker; great nephew, Todd McDade; great niece, Katie Bug Scholfield, all of Pittsfield; several other nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Vernon (Brenda) Nave of Meredosia; and four sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Tom) Floyd of Chambersburg, Carolyn (deceased husband, Bob) Hurst of Versailles, Beatrice (Larry)Stinson of Versailles, and Brenda (Steve) Hall of Meredosia. He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, Arthur R. McDannold, Jr., Marsha Kay McDannold, and Dale Wayne McDannold; brother-in-law, Aubrey Lee Nave; and three sisters-in-law, Sheron Kay and Bob Phillips, Connie Sue Hammond, and Bonnie Lou VanHyning.

Mr. McDannold was a graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School and later held several jobs throughout his career, including State Highway Department, Local 51 IBEW, Prairie Power and Schwan’s Food Service. He enjoyed hunting, mushrooming, listening to country music, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Artie Ray was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
