Arthur L. Hollings, Jr., 95, of Newington, passed away peacefully at Avery Heights, Hartford, on March 26, 2015. Born on March 21, 1920 in Hartford, Arthur moved to Newington in 1925 and lived there most of his life. He was a graduate of New Britain High School and Morse School of Business, and served in the U. S. Army during World War II for over three and a half years. Arthur was employed by the Goodwin Family for many years as their Office Manager. Later he worked at Connecticut Bank and Trust Company in the Trust Department, and continued there after it became part of Bank of New England, retiring in 1984 after more than a decade of service. He was an active adult leader in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. A lifelong member of Church of Christ, Congregational, Newington, after retirement he volunteered his time there as a member of “The Jolly Gents”. Arthur enjoyed gardening and was an avid philatelist, specializing in collecting U. N. and U. S. issued postage stamps. He also served as an officer with the Connecticut Forest and Park Association. Arthur is survived by his son, John and his wife Lori (Hayes) Hollings, and his grandchildren, Samuel and Nathan Hollings, all of Wethersfield; and his son, Charles and his wife Barbara Hollings of North Palm Beach, FL. He also leaves his sister Joan Rogers and her husband Thomas of Storrs. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucy (DelVecchio) and his son, Steven Hollings. Arthur’s family would like to thank the staff at Avery Heights for the care that their father received during his time there.
