Art was born on June 4, 1941, in Columbus, NE, the son of Arthur and Agnes “Peg” (Hekrdle) Indra, Sr. He was raised on the family farm south of Stanton. Art attended Stanton County District 81 Elementary School before graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Norfolk.

Art entered the US Army on June 11, 1959. He was stationed in Japan and earned his honorable discharge on October 8, 1963. Following his service, Art returned to Nebraska where he worked for a roofing company for a year prior to beginning his career with Vulcraft. He was a welder for 35 years when he retired in 1999. All the while Art enjoyed farming with his father and brothers.

He enjoyed traveling, square dancing and going on fishing trips. He was an avid reader, liked to play cards and board games and cook. He belonged to several bowling leagues and was an accomplished handyman. However his passion was his family.

Art was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1793 and Sir Knight of the Fourth Degree Monsignor Robert P. Burns Assembly 606. Art was also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, of 40 years, their children: Angie Indra, of Emporia, KS, and Nicole and Bill Wychulis, of Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren, Mia Wychulis and Tristan Wychulis; two brothers, Donald and Karen Indra, Dennis and Rosanne Indra, all of Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly, and his parents.
