Arthur Hix, age 89, of Fenton, died on February 7, 2016, in Algona. Arthur George Hix, the son of George and Maude (Durst) Hix, was born on November 5, 1926, in Gordon, Nebraska. On August 21, 1948, Arthur was united in marriage with Alice Irene Smith in Blue Earth, MN. After Alice passed away in 1992, Arthur was united in marriage with Joyce Anderson on July 13, 1995, in Fairmont, MN. Arthur worked various positions in road construction and farmed all of his life. He was a member of Lone Rock Presbyterian Church. Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, playing cards, and farming with his tenants Dave and Mary Jane Krause.
Left to cherish Arthur’s memory is his wife of 20 years, Joyce; children, Sharon (Doug) Marty, George (Cindy) Hix, Duane (Sandy) Hix, JoAnn (Dennis) Johansen and Janett (Mike) Kline all of Algona; a daughter-in-law, Leann Creech of Worthington, KY; step-children; Cindy Anderson of Humboldt, Diane (Gene) Dahlhauser of West Bend, Dwayne (Becky) Anderson of Algona and Beth (Jeff) Fehr of Whittemore; 37 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a nephew who was like a brother, Stanley (Karen) Ruse of Muscatine; and a brother-in-law, Edward “Timer” Harms. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Hix; a son, David Lee Hix; grandsons, Ashley Hix and David Hix, Jr.; a step-granddaughter, Jill Fehr; a step-son, Dennis Lee Anderson; and sisters, Vera Fitch, Hazel Ruse and Dawney Harms.
