Lakeland – Arthur Frederich Vetter, 91, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, as a result of natural causes.
Mr. Vetter was born November 7, 1921 in Painsville, Ohio. He and his family moved to Lakeland in 1977 from Tulsa, OK. Mr. Vetter was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1986.
Mr. Vetter was employed by Agrico where he served in several supervisory positions over a 38 year career. He was the plant manager for fertilizer production in Washington Court House, OH, regional manager for fertilizer operations at Williams Co. and superintendent of the chemical plant at South Pierce. He retired from Agrico in 1982.
Mr. Vetter and his wife, Elizabeth, were volunteers at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Between the two of them, they logged over 100,000 volunteer hours.
Mr. Vetter is survived by his beloved wife, of 70 years, Elizabeth Vetter; son, Ed Vetter and his wife, Lana; granddaughter, Jennifer Stahl and her husband, Keith; grandson, Eric Vetter and his wife, Marji; and 4 great grandchildren.
