Arthur Frank Beineke, 91, passed away Friday April 19, 2013 in Franklin, Indiana. He was a resident of Franklin since 1976.
Arthur “Art” Beineke was born Feb. 25, 1922 in Indianapolis to Clarence and Clara (Blumel) Beineke. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in the class of 1940. Arthur married Wanda Jean McRae on May 6, 1944 in Indianapolis.
He owned and operated McRae Service Station in Marion, Indiana from 1949 to 1976. He was then employed by the State of Indiana in the revenue division until retiring in 1987. While in retirement he and his wife, Wanda, worked security and guest services at major athletic and cultural events in Indianapolis until 2010.
He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church, Indianapolis, a founding member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Marion and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Franklin.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wanda Beineke of Franklin, three children; John A. (Marla) Beineke of Arkansas, Amanda (Michael) Meade of California and Paula (Martin) Garrett of Colorado, six grandchildren; Eric (Shavon) Hix, Colin Beineke, Kaitlin Beineke, Michael Meade, Christopher Meade and Jolie Meade and a great-grandson, Jace Hix.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters and a daughter-in law, Deborah (Stariha) Beineke.
