Arthur Edward Kauker of Edgewater Park passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 28th. He would have been 76 years old this April 19th. He was welcomed Home by his loving wife Julia (April 6th) after 50 years of happy marriage.
He is survived by their children Kathleen Lawrie and Son-In-Law Mathew of Burlington Twp, Kenneth (Jacqui Kulyk) and Kristian both of Edgewater Park, and his grandchildren: Danielle and David. He is also survived by his friend and buddy Mike and “His Girls”, Carol and Amanda as well as many friends and “church family”, “theatre family”, “work family” and “3-Day family”. Arthur served his country in the US Marine Corps, Private First Class from 1956 to 1958, and in active reserve from 1958 to 1962. Arthur was a resident of Edgewater Park for 49 years and was active as co-Chairperson of the year-long Edgewater Park Golden Jubilee Celebration in 1974, president and contributing member of the EP Jaycees and ERs. He coached little league baseball (Orff’s Roofing & J.C.s) in the late ’60s and early ’70s. He was also a retired Teamster after driving a truck for 40 years for North Penn Transfer and Martin’s Freight.
Arthur enjoyed spending time with his wife demonstrating colonial spinning at historical sites throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania including the Annual Arts in the Park event at Smithville Mansion in Mt. Holly and Historic Cold Springs Village in Cape May. He was a member of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Beverly and an active member of the vestry. He was also seen greeting theatergoers as the House Manager for many productions by the Bridge Players Theatre Company. He was also the highlight of the Burlington City holiday parade for many years, bringing smiles to children’s faces along the way. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family up and down the east coast. He also enjoyed bowling with friends and watching the Phillies and Eagles when possible.
For two years he could be seen on the streets of Philadelphia cheering and supporting the Susan G. Komen 3-Day For the Cure/60-mile walkers with Julia as a “walker stalker” carrying his sign that read “We are the TuTu Brothers, Mom & Dad”. In October, Art helped serve 2 meals a day for 3 days as a crew member at the Philadelphia Susan G. Komen 3-Day For the Cure Camp in memory of Julia.
