He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 3 years coming from Benton Harbor. Arthur was employed with the Whirlpool Corporation for 35 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois E. Smetts in 1987; 2 sons, Arthur Smetts, Jr. and Kenneth Smetts; a brother, Joseph Smetts; and a sister, Dorothy Zimmerman. Arthur is survived by 3 children, Sharon Bob Musselman of Scotts, David Smetts of Palm Desert, CA, and Carol Smetts of Ocala, FL; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
