Arthur “Butch” Vance Ptacek, age 80, of DeMotte passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in Merrillville, Indiana. Arthur “Butch” Vance Ptacek was born on August 15, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Frank and Theodora Fay (Glass) Ptacek.
Butch was a graduate of DeMotte High School, Class of 1954. He married Carol Joyce (Hilton) on September 5, 1964, in DeMotte, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 2005. Butch was an Iron Worker for Local 63 from which he retired. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. Butch was a former member of the DeMotte United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post #440, and a member of Iron Workers Local 63.
Butch is survived by his children: Todd (Teresa) Ptacek of DeMotte, IN; Valerie (Bobby) Tracy of Cook, MN; grandchildren: Elicia Gunter, Emily Ptacek, Elizabeth Ptacek, Corre Ptacek; and brother: Donald Ptacek of IL.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents and wife. Memorial contributions may be made to the DeMotte United Methodist Church.
