Art passed away peacefully on October 30, 2018 at the age of 89.
Art was born June 15, 1929 in Emmett, Idaho to Arthur and Florence Gratton and lived most of his long and full life in his beloved home town. He graduated from Emmett High School and attended Boise Junior College. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Dorothy (Griffiths), and raised five children.
Art, at heart, was a realtor and owned his own real estate and property management firm for over 40 years in Emmett. Art was always there to serve his home town in whatever capacity he could.
He was an avid story and joke teller and never hesitated to tell stories and jokes to friends and strangers alike. He was a music lover and avid genealogist and lived life to the fullest, and was always there for friends and family.
Art’s life was his wife and his family. Art and Dorothy were married for 66 years and Art always said he was the luckiest man in the world. He was very proud of his kids. But then again he was incredibly proud of his extended family, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his son, Michael and grandson John. Art is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his sons, Steve (Mikki), David (Robin) and Tom (Tina); daughter, Sue (Bob) and daughter-in-law Randi (Ben). He also loved his grandkids, Scott (Kelly), Ben (Rhea), Sarah, Richard (Leann), Ryan (Fernanda), Jillian (Jason), Kevin, Breanne (Robby), Chris, Ashley (Brian), Jacob (Betsy), and Hannah (Tony), as well as his numerous great grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous friends and family who will all miss him and his wonderful sense of humor very much.
