Sebring: Arthene Bye Alspaugh, age 94, of 800 South 15th Street, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 10:20 p.m. at the Salem Community Hospital. She was born November 13, 1917 in Damascus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice (Barber) Bye. Arthene was a graduate of the former Goshen Union High School and also Salem Business College and had retired in 1981 as office Manager of the Airport Division of Burrell Construction Company in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a member of the Damascus Methodist Church, Damascus Historical Society, Sevakeen Country Club and a former member of the Salem Golf Club and Montour Heights Country Club of Pittsburgh. She was the last remaining Charter Member of the 73-year-old SOS Bridge Club. Her husband, W. Wentz Alspaugh whom she married August 20, 1940 preceded her in death in 1957.Survivors include a son, Greg (Nancy) Alspaugh of Concord, N.C. and a daughter Gail (Bruce) Clark of Philadelphia, PA and five grandchildren: Janet Alspaugh, Aaron (Lisa) Alspaugh, Eric (Chandi) Clark, Brian Clark, Alison Scher and two great grandchildren, Alexis and Aaron Alspaugh.
