Arnis Glover

Thomas Arnis Glover, 84, died on June 8, 2019, at home in Hot Springs, Arkansas, surrounded by family.
Arnis was born in Woodlawn, Arkansas, on April 5, 1935, to parents Thomas Otis and Mary Lorene (Rena) O’Kelley Glover. He was a 1953 graduate of Woodlawn High School where he graduated fourth out of twenty-two and attended A&M which is now UAM. He married Patsy Nelline Taylor Glover on July 24, 1954. They were blessed with two children: Myra Glover Crutchfield and Thomas Lee Glover.
Mr. Glover had a strong work ethic from early on. His first job was in the sixth grade where he was hired by the janitor to help clean the Woodlawn School. As a youth, he helped on the family farm with the planting, the cattle, and the cotton gin. After his time in college, he worked at Central Transformer, now Central Maloney, as a store room clerk. He soon moved up to Supervisor of Stores and Shipping. He was also Production Control Manager, Manager of Manufacturing, and Vice-President of Manufacturing. He worked for Central Transformer for 18 years until he and Patsy opened Glover Realty Inc. in 1971. He and Patsy worked side by side for 15 years. In 1980 Mr. Glover and his brother-in-law, Royce Taylor, opened Glover-Taylor Paving. Arnis was also the owner of Glover Trucking in Pine Bluff. Throughout his time in real estate, Arnis made the Million Dollar Club several times as well as being the president of Pine Bluff Homebuilders and the vice-president of the Pine Bluff Board of Realtors. He was also one of the organizers of the First National Bank of Sheridan, now Malvern National Bank, and the co-founder of Medi-Save Drugs in Sheridan. Until his death, Mr. Glover never stopped working because, as he stated, “I enjoy life and whatever I’m doing at the time.”
Arnis was a very active church member. He was a Sunday school teacher, a deacon, a choir member, and a director of the Faith Bible Institute. While living in Pine Bluff, he was a member of Olive Street Missionary Baptist Church. After moving to Sheridan, he became a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was a member of First Baptist of Hot Springs.
Arnis was a family man. As a child, he was very close to his parents and siblings. After his father died, Arnis worked to help support his family. He was a loving father and amazing grandfather and great-grandfather. He never missed a chance to spend time with his children or grandchildren. In his spare time, Mr. Glover liked to restore old cars and tractors. He restored a 1930 Ford Model A, a 1950 Studebaker, and an International Cub Tractor. Arnis also liked to travel. He took his family to Florida, the western U.S., New York, Washington D.C., and many other places.
Arnis Glover was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Taylor Glover; his mother and father; his sisters infant Betty Sue Glover, Joyce (Voy) Cash, Nannie Jo (Leonard) Small; his brothers Sonny (Lavere) Glover, and Rupert (Eddie Ruth) Glover.
He is survived by his children, Myra Glover Crutchfield (Kim) of Sheridan, Thomas Lee Glover (Dian) of Hot Springs; his grandchildren Ty Crutchfield (Holly) of Benton, Dustin Glover (Katie) of Fayetteville , Haven Crutchfield Brown (Kevin) of Sheridan, and Zachary Glover of Fayetteville; his great-grandchildren Noah and Evan Crutchfield of Benton and Blakely and Macey Glover of Fayetteville; his special friend Martha Stephens; his brother-in-law Royce Taylor (Mary Francis) of Pine Bluff, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
