Armando Jimenez Estrada, age 60, formerly of Silver City and Lordsburg passed away Saturday January 23, 2010 at Gerald Champion Medical Center in Alamogordo following a long struggle with a heart condition and diabetes.
He was born February 2, 1949 in Lordsburg to Margo Estrada Sr. and Guadalupe Jimenez. Armando worked 15 years at the Tyrone Mine before moving to Alamogordo where he retired from the Alamogordo School District. He will be remembered as a devoted father who lived each day looking forward to spending time with his sons. Armando was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed playing his guitar, taking pictures and collecting coins. He was looking forward to the upcoming marriage of his son Armando to Elena Urbina in February and to the birth of his first grandchild in June as Jonathan and Michelle become parents.
Survivors are 3 sons, Armando David and Jonathan Paul of Peoria, AZ and Charles of Carlsbad; daughter in law, Michelle Didur-Estrada; mother, Guadalupe Estrada of Lordsburg; 3 brothers, Margo Jr. and wife Mary Helen and Edward and wife Guadalupe of Lordsburg and Frank of Albuquerque; 2 sisters, Rachel altuna of Las Cruces and Socorro and husband Mohamed Raja of Los Angeles, CA, Doris Alarcón, mother of Armando David and Jonathan Paul, and Laura Harris, mother of Charles Gabriel.
He is preceded in death by his father, Margo Estrada Sr. and children Denise and Gabriel.
