Arline E. Ahrens, 88, of Centralia, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She was born June 18, 1933 in New Minden, the daughter of Harry Sprehe and Regina (Going) Sprehe. She married Willis Ahrens on August 12, 1956 and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 65 years, Willis Ahrens of Centralia, she is also survived by two grandchildren: Samantha Rodrick and husband Josh of Claremont, Illinois and Brent Koelmel and wife Lindsay of St. Louis, Missouri; one great granddaughter: Adalynn Koelmel and one on the way; son-in-law: Terry Koelmel of Centralia; brother: Harold Sprehe and wife Esther of Springfield, Illinois; sister-in-law: Priscilla Sprehe of Mesa, Arizona; several nieces and nephews: Terry Ahrens and wife Lila of Breese, Steve Sprehe of Mesa, Arizona, Cindy Queen and husband Ken of Mesa, Arizona, Marilyn Mayer and husband Jan of Bowie, Maryland, Janet Sprehe of Tampa, Florida, Mark Sprehe and wife Julia of Springfield, Illinois.
Arline was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Regina Sprehe, daughter: Lynette Kay Koelmel, mother and father-in-law: Harry and Laura Ahrens, and brother-in-law: Willard and Juanita Ahrens. Arline worked at Farmers State Bank in Hoffman as the Head Teller for 40 plus years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years, a Guild Member, Women’s Missionary League and she held several offices at the church. Arline enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s ball games, and Polka Dances in Minnesota, Iowa and St. Louis, Missouri. She loved traveling, especially to Hawaii, playing cards and spending time with her family.
