Arlette Patrice Budd-Islar Born to the union of Wilda Budd and the late Anthony Budd, Arlette Patrice Budd-Islar entered this life on January 19, 1971. Reared in the nation’s capital of Washington, DC, Arlette began matriculating through the District of Columbia Public Schools system. Ultimately, she completed her grade school studies in Prince William County, Virginia, earning her diploma from Stonewall Jackson High School.

Upon graduation, Arlette furthered her studies by attending the University of the District of Columbia. She successfully graduated with her associates degree and additionally obtained several certifications within the medical industry. With a uniquely innate passion for caring for people, Arlette would go on to devote greater than the next two decades to this cause. Having served in wide range of environments, she found that her greatest fulfillment came through providing in-home care to those in need. At the bedside of the weak, she was a beacon of strength; to the hurting, she was healing, personified; to the lonely, she was the most comforting company. Her impact, immeasurable; her legacy, unforgettable.

While her contributions in the medical field were many, Arlette always considered her greatest contribution to this Earth to be the five sons that God blessed her to have: Arlando Budd, Jerry Budd, Anthony Budd, Jeremiah Islar, and Isaiah Dorsey. Her boys were the reason that she constantly found the courage to continue, no matter what curveball life threw her way. Anyone who spent any length of time in conversation with her was sure to hear about two things – her love for God and her love for her boys. When not enveloped in the demands of her work, Arlette was still on the go. Affectionately known as “Tink”, she developed quite a reputation for being the life of any party. If Arlette was in a room, you knew it without a doubt. In her company, laughter was a guarantee, and dancing was non-negotiable.

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, she slipped away from Earth, accepting an invitation to attend one final party – one held in eternity with the Lord whom she loved so dearly. She is preceded in death by her father, Anthony Budd. She will be forever cherished in the memories of her mother, Wilda Budd; her sons; Arlando Budd (Ekco), Jerry Budd, Anthony Budd, Jeremiah Islar (Shakira), and Isaiah Dorsey; grandchildren, Arlando Grayson, Aydan Lee, Aaron Josiah, Alden Cole, Autumn Rose, Jaziah Rene, Anthony Patrick, Jr., Joellyn Vincent; and a host of other family members, friends, clients, and colleagues who will miss her immensely.
