Arlene Dorothy Schroeder passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022 at the age of 91. Arlene was born in Chicago on November 7, 1930 to Herman and Myrtle (nee Voelkner) Barnick and attended Kelvyn Park High School. Shortly after graduation, she met and married Dick Schroeder at the tender age of 21 on April 28, 1951. They raised four children in Chicago and were always proud of being Chicagoans.

Arlene was a terrific athlete and was a cheerleader at Kelvyn Park. She was very prolific at bowling and golf, 6 times winning the Women’s Club Championship at Mission Hills CC in Northbrook. Her other hobbies included crochet and beaded jewelry. Arlene volunteered at the North Park Village Nature Center and at the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club on Irving Park Road. She enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her brother Fred (Alice), and three children: Steven (Danute) Schroeder, Susan (Borgardt) Schroeder, and Linda (Bryan) Kohles. She also is survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William R Schroeder, her son William R Schroeder II, her Grandson William R Schroeder III, and her brother Herb Barnick.  She loved everyone and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She really enjoyed seeing and talking to her great-grandkids.
