Arlene Emma Cole, 89, of rural Grand Ridge, died Saturday morning, February 12, 2011 at Pleasant View. Arlene was born October 8, 1921, in Ottawa, to Otto and Emma (Breyer) Marten. She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School. She married Wilford Cole on March 25, 1945 in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Ottawa. He died December 31, 1981.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ottawa Womans Club. She was a 4-H Leader and a member of the LaSalle County Home Extension. She is survived by two daughters, Jean (Norman) Strow, of Ottawa and Peggy Cole, of Millstadt, IL, one son Ronald (Gina) Cole, of Streator, six grandchildren, Melanie Peddicord, Brian Strow, Leanne Leibman, Thomas Strow, Megan Miller and Matthew Cole, and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madelyn Peddicord, Tucker, Colette, Oliver and Thatcher Strow and Matthew Leibman, and one brother, Glen (Helen) Marten. She was preceded in death by her husband, and two brothers, Lester and Harold Marten.
