Arlene Alice Bocker (Granny B.), 92 of Shannon, IL, passed away on May 24th, 2017.
Arlene Bocker was born in her parents, William and Dora (Schriner) LaPlaine’s home in Chadwick, IL on March 11th, 1925. Arlene was married to Harm Bocker on June 5th, 1948; they were married 32 years.
Arlene worked as a CNA at the Villas of Shannon for over 25 years. She also did in-home care up until she was 85. She attended Forreston Grove Church and was very active in several groups there. The most important thing in Arlene’s life was her family. She rarely missed any activities and was usually the first one there. She set a wonderful example for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she was everyone’s “Granny B.”
Arlene is survived by her children Sharon (Roger) Artman, Terry (Vicki) Bocker, Linda Earnest, Darla Armstrong, and grandchildren Merlin (Cindy) Hagemann, Bob (Jill) Bocker, Dan Bocker, Shawn Clouse, Emilee (Zach) Henkel, Ashlee (Ryan) Scheffner, Carlee (Derek) Tessendorf, Amanda (Anthony) Preston, Alana Rivers, Ariana (Kris) Manthie, Ian Armstrong, and Maddalen Armstrong, 27 great-grandchildren, brother, Delbert Carley, and sisters, Joyce Bloyer, Elizabeth Munz, and Arliss Pantall
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dora; husband, Harm; brothers, Billie LaPlaine and Francis LaPlaine; granddaughter, Judy Martin; grandsons, Steve Bocker and Mark Hagemann; step-son, Laverne Bocker; step-daughter Louise Hagemann and son-in-law, Russell Armstrong.
