BOONSBORO – Arleen Elizabeth (Miller) Higgins, 89, a resident of Sterling Care South Mountain, passed peacefully on February 12, 2023.
Arleen was born on May 14, 1933, in Cumberland, MD, and was the daughter of the late Walter T. and Margaret E. Hardman Miller.
Arleen was a graduate of Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, MD, with the class of 1951. She moved to Hagerstown to work at Fairchild Aircraft Industries, marrying Frederick W. Higgins, of Clear Spring, on May 31, 1952. Mr. Higgins passed away on August 24, 1984.
Arleen was a member of Saint James Brethren Church and a former member of Hagerstown Bible Church. She also attended Little Orleans United Methodist Church.
Arleen retired from the Washington County Board of Education as a cafeteria worker at South Hagerstown High School.
Surviving are four daughters, Pamela K. Troncatti, of Hagerstown; Penelope (Penny) N. Baker, of Boonsboro; Yvonne M. Higgins, of White Marsh, MD; and Krista S. Hudson, of Hagerstown, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters Wilda M. Miller, Alberta L. Zembower; Audrey A. Wills; and Patricia E. Often; brother Merrill W. Miller; and companion Max K. Robison.
In addition to her parents and husband, Arleen was predeceased by her brothers, Herbert L. Miller, and Lamar J. Miller.
