On a rainy summer afternoon, Tuesday July 24th, Argie M. Brown answered a heavenly call. She quietly slipped away to accept her reward as an angel in the Kingdom of God.
Born in Clyattville, GA, Argie Mae Payton moved to Daytona Beach, Florida at an early age. She was a graduate of the historically black Campbell High School, Class of 1954. Argie went on to attend Bethune Cookman College.
Upon moving to Daytona Beach, she joined and has remained a faithful member of Greater Friendship Baptist. With more than 60 years of membership, she tirelessly worked on various committees and was a long standing active member of Usher Board #2. In 2007, after a 30 year career as a Sales Associate with Sears Corporation, Mrs. Brown retired. She was an avid reader of the Bible and biographies, she loved word search puzzles, enjoyed travel and was a loyal fan of Wildcat football. Most of all she loved having the luxury of time and the freedom to spend that time with the family she loved so much.
