Ardis E. Tibbetts
Ardis E. Tibbetts passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in Edgewood, Washington on Monday, January 21, 2019.
Ardis was born on July 22, 1923 in Osceola, Nebraska to her parents Harvey “Jack” Johnston and Hazel Johnston. Married to Keith F. McMeekin on August 5, 1946 in York, Nebraska. They farmed outside Shelby, Nebraska and had three sons, Terry, Lynn (passed away as an infant) and Dennis. They lived on the farm until Keith’s death on October 18, 1952. She moved with her two surviving sons to Osceola and was a first grade teacher at Osceola Elementary School. After receiving her degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1961 she and her sons moved to Beatrice, Nebraska and taught first grade at Stoddard Elementary School until she retired. Ardis had one granddaughter, Kelly D. McMeekin-Miller (parents Terry and Darcie McMeekin). Ardis moved to Bonney Lake, Washington to be closer to Terry, Darcie and Kelly until her death.
Ardis was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, sister Roberta, brother Lyle and her husbands, Keith F. McMeekin and E. Derrald Tibbetts and infant son (Lynn McMeekin), sister-in-law Marie McMeekin, brother-in-law, Dale McMeekin, sister-in-law Louise Johnston, and two nephews Richard and Greg McMeekin.
Ardis is survived by her two sons, Terry and daughter-in-law Darcie McMeekin of Casa Grande, Arizona and Dennis McMeekin of Arlington, Texas and granddaughter, Kelly D. McMeekin-Miller of Bonney Lake, Washington. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews all from Nebraska.
