The Life Story of Ardath Mae Grant

Ardath Grant, 84 of Nampa, Idaho, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 14th, 2018.

Ardath was born in the Sandhills of Nebraska on June 12th, 1934.

While babysitting for a close friend of hers in Nampa, Idaho she met the neighbor and her husband-to-be, Clarence “Earl” Grant.  Earl and Ardath got married on April 11, 1953 in Winnemucca, Nevada and went on to have three children, Timothy, Cindy and Matthew.

Throughout her life Ardath always had a soft spot for children.  This was exhibited in the passion she had for the position that she held at the Idaho State School and Hospital where she was a caregiver on the special needs infant ward.  Ardath was also proud of the teacher’s aide position that she held at Nampa Christian School.   She was known for her ability to teach and lovingly discipline children by giving choices and not orders.  The quote that she is best known for is, “Well, you have a choice to make”.

Ardath was known for her work ethic and unwavering sense of accountability.

Ardath’s hobbies included painting, cooking, photography and other miscellaneous arts and crafts. She had a tremendous love of the Great Blue Heron and would often strive to take the perfect picture of the bird in flight.

Ardath has gone home to be with her husband of 53 years, Earl.

A special thanks to the entire staff at Saint Alphonsus Hospital Nampa Garrity for their compassion and care that surpassed our expectations, especially to Dr. Nugent and the wonderful nurses and assistants.
