Archie Marcus, 90, a longtime resident of Wethersfield, entered into his Eternal Rest on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY on February 18, 1922, Archie was the son of the late Isidore and Agnes Markus and the beloved husband to Terry (Barile) Marcus for 63 years. Prior to his retirement, Archie worked as an Engineer for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. A veteran of WWII, Archie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. As an avid sports enthusiast, he loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He also loved playing handball, baseball and bowling. Archie was a member of the YMCA of Hartford and a Lifetime Member and Chaplain for VFW Post 9945 of Wethersfield. Most of all, Archie and Terry traveled extensively, especially to their favorite destination, Watch Hill, RI. Besides his wife Terry, Archie is survived by his niece and godchild, Jeannie Leitao of Glastonbury, his niece, Janet Cyr of Glastonbury, his niece, Joanne Czerwinski of Wethersfield, his nephew, Jack Leitao and his wife, Janet of Berlin; his best friend, Chuck Dotts and his wife, Jennie of Wethersfield, as well as many other nieces, nephews and relatives in CT and NY. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Aldona Bonfiglio, and his two nephews, Nelson Cyr and Tom Czerwinski. Relatives and friends may call on Archie’s family on Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
