Arawana June Leckron, age 84 of Westminster died Thursday March 31, 2011 at Carroll Hospital Center. She was born June 17, 1926 in Johnstown, PA the daughter of the late Walter and Cora Harrison Carney. She was the former wife of Ralph G. Leckron of Westminster. She was a bookkeeper working alongside her husband in the family towing business “Leckron’s Towing of Westminster” for over 30 years. She also worked at London Fog. Arawana was an active volunteer of Carroll Hospital Center and was a former President and Board Member of the Auxiliary, chaired the Tree of Lights and led the Junior Volunteer Program for many years. She enjoyed helping families and patients as a pharmacy assistant with Anchor Pharmacy in Westminster and CVS in Taneytown.
Arawana was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren, taught Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the choir, playing the organ and giving lessons.
She is survived by her sons, Sidney and wife, Maryann Leckron of New Windsor and Spencer, Sr. and wife, Eileen Leckron of Westminster; brothers, Emerson and Lee Carney and sister, Virginia Rummel all of Johnstown, PA; grandchildren, Todd Leckron of Hanover, PA, Adam Leckron of Westminster, Spencer Leckron, Jr. and Joshua Leckron of Westminster and Amanda Wall of Bowie; great granddaughters, Annabelle and Jocelyn Leckron of Westminster; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Darrell Carney.
