Antonio C. Leite of West Haven, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at home with his family at his side. Antonio “Tony”, the loving husband of 53 years of Ana Oucidres Leite, was born in Chaves, Portugal on February 16, 1938 to deceased Alberto and Maria Leite. Tony was the father of Diana (Joao) Calvao of West Haven and Fernando (Lynn) Leite of Bethany. Cherished grandfather of Antonio (Jessica) Calvao, Cristina Calvao and Mallory Leite. His pride and joy great granddaughter Hailin. Tony leaves his brothers Mario Leites and Manuel Leite of New Haven, sisters Belmira Amorin of Hamden and Adelaide Barros of Cheshire. His favorite sister-in-law Luciana Oucidres of Milford and brother-in-law Antonio (Maria) Pereira of West Haven. He is predeceased by sisters Adelaide, Arminda, Adelia Leites, Elvira Pereira and brother Afonso Leite. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was the owner of Tony’s Supermarket in the Hill section of New Haven for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1995. He was also the President of the Portuguese American Club. He was an avid soccer enthusiast that played for many Connecticut and Massachusetts teams. He was a lifelong fan of Sporting Soccer Club of Portugal as well as the Boston Red Sox.
